An interesting vision of Italian design, gastronomy and culture emerges from the new exhibition “Tobia Scarpa: Design e Gusto della Tavola Italiana”, scheduled for 1 August through 31 October 2023 at the Civic Paleontology and Palethnology Museum in Maglie, Lecce.

The exhibition is conceived and curated by Cintya Concari and Roberto Marcatti in collaboration with Studio Scarpa. The aim is to tell the story of one of the greatest Italian architects and designers of the 20th century and his passion for the culture of food and the culture of design. On show are everyday objects designed by Scarpa to make the act of eating more fascinating but also more functional, from crockery to dining tables, from lamps to cutlery.

Alongside the products on show, Scarpa's preparatory sketches and a bookcase full of volumes and catalogues will also be on display, accompanied by an area reserved for the projection of the documentary "L'anima segreta delle cose" (The secret soul of things), filmed in 2014, in which the concepts of the objects that the Venetian designer produced using very different materials, from silver to marble, are visually narrated. Sixty years of all-Italian ingenuity and visionary spirit conducted in synergy with the most important Made in Italy design companies, including Désirée, which produced the objects and lent them for this exhibition.

From his collaboration with Désirée, architect Tobia Scarpa proposes two new products: a chair and a table named Ciàcola. Created to coexist in unison, but also perfect individually.
