A major exhibition at Palazzo Reale traces the entire artistic career of Mario Raciti, from his early days in gestural painting to his most recent and intense mythological visions, celebrating the deep bond between the artist and Milan, the city where he was born and with which he has forged a cultural and personal relationship spanning over half a century.

The exhibition, organised by the City of Milan – Culture and produced by Palazzo Reale and Silvana Editoriale, is curated by Luca Pietro Nicoletti and will be open to the public from 1 July to 20 September 2026.

There is a way of telling the story of art that goes beyond mere dates, moving along the streets, entering cafés and drawing on relationships forged behind the scenes of a publishing house or a gallery. The story of Mario Raciti belongs entirely to this narrative, a journey in which creative experience blends with the atmosphere of a Milan in constant transformation.

The exhibition at Palazzo Reale has been conceived precisely to retrace the history of this long artistic journey, from the artist’s early steps in the 1950s to his most recent works, offering an overview of the stature of one of the most sensitive figures in contemporary Italian painting.

The exhibition forms part of the series that Palazzo Reale dedicates to the ‘Masters in Milan’, following on from the retrospective exhibitions held in recent years on Ruggero Savinio, Grazia Varisco and Valerio Adami. The exhibition marks a new and significant stage in the exhibition programme dedicated to Raciti, following the exhibitions at Palazzo Sarcinelli in Conegliano (1998), Palazzo Magnani in Reggio Emilia (2010) and MART in Rovereto (2016), and follows the publication of the catalogue raisonné of the artist’s paintings in 2023.

The exhibition has been organised with the support of the Euromobil Group.
