Van Gogh and Gauguin's journey

Van Gogh and Gauguin's journey

November 12, 2011 - April 15, 2012

"Van Gogh and Gauguin's journey" is an exhibition intended to make time. Without a doubt. If only for the breathtaking sequence of masterpieces, from November 12 this year to 15 April 2012, will be meeting at the Palazzo Ducale in Genoa. All around the theme of travel: travel as geographical exploration, travel in space and cultures but also, and most importantly, travel inside.
For this company, whose size does not have many precedents in Italy, the Municipality of Genoa, Goldin and Palazzo Ducale got collaborations of absolute importance, starting with the two main sponsors of the exhibition. The historic partner, the Group Euromobil Lucchetta brothers, that through this exhibition celebrates fifteen years of collaboration with Goldin and The Shadow Line, is accompanied by a name that needs no introduction, as the UniCredit Group, which has greatly appreciated this proposed which combines the charm of the trial to a sense of openness to the wide audience of fans.
The journey that Goldin proposes to Palazzo Ducale is the ideal center, as well as actually will stand at the center of the exhibition, the work questions the symbol of a life as an artist, that "Where we come from? Who are we? Where are we going? "Gauguin wanted him as his testament in 1897, having decided to escape from what now seemed unbearable, using arsenic, according to a suicide attempt that later failed. This work, majestic and sublime, four feet long by one and a half in height, in Italy there has never been seen, and in Europe once, in Paris a decade ago. The Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, who has elected its symbol and where it is kept, is a true exception, concedendola only the fourth time in a century. Loan truly epochal. So to speak, was rejected even the largest exhibition ever created on Gauguin and co-produced by the Tate in London and the National Gallery in Washington, where it is still in progress. Also to admire this masterpiece only high, it would be worthwhile to make the trip to Genoa.
