Attilio Forgioli.It will flower painting

14 September - 13 October | Milano / Fondazione Stelline

The exhibition, curated by Elena Pontiggia, offers a retrospective of the artist, but now Milan from Brescia
adoption, one of the most significant post-casual Italian painting.
The exhibition includes the first mature works Forgioli, which can be traced back to the Newva
Figuration and reconstruct the image after the dissolution of the Informal. The artist began to paint in that
climate, landscape, finding in one of his subjects more congenial. Animals in the landscape is, in fact, the title of a
cycle of works of the time. This is the period in which Dino Buzzati wrote of him: "It dissolves within himself the landscape
so that it is spilling into the bowels and bloode”.
His works are evocative of the usual forms and precise schematic reproductions of places, animals, things
usual, but images suscitatrici emotions, figures hidden in us, signs and colors that recall
ourselves. Forgioli is therefore not a chronicler of images but, like every true poet, an interpreter of himself
even when he devoted himself to his most recent production of Portraits. They translate its relationship with the
person, labile physical filtered by his feelings visionary, and the slow work of investigation on the faces as unstable formsi
which, however, lead us to recognize in themselves once again the artist.
As told by Elena Pontiggia in the catalog essay, characteristic of Forgioli is "so pervasive feeling
the individuality of each element, the innumerable veins and speckles of which is woven, the irregularity and
holiness that compose it. In Forgioli there are no patterns. The writing of his colors is always
anxious, uncomfortable, carried out in short strokes and thin, sometimes violent, with sudden changes of mindti,
corrections, interruptions, irritations, route changes and idea. Looking at his house, his animals,
his landscapes, which are all very different, we note that the way to paint them is, in fact, only one. One way, for
so to speak, existential”.
