Romano Abate

Romano Abate was born in Cividale in 1941. Lives and works in Quinto di Treviso. After graduating from high school, he attended the two-year period at the Iuav in Venice. He graduated master of arts in ceramics at the Institute of Nove of Bassano del Grappa. Very active in promoting culture in Treviso in 1987 organized an exhibition of sculptures and neon lights, reported in the international catalog Contemporary Neon by Rudi Stern (1987), and with a group of artists fights for the establishment of a Centre for Visual Arts (1989-1992). Teaches art education until 1987, when it leaves the teaching to devote himself entirely to sculpture and research in the field of visual communication.
Its exhibitions is intense and qualified. Since 1965, solo exhibitions of Abate were organized in numerous galleries and public spaces. Important those held in the city of Treviso (1987), in the Palazzo Roncale in Rovigo (1988), in Palazzo Sarcinelli in Conegliano (1995), the memorable exhibition Sensori della memoria promoted by the Municipality of Padua in Palazzo Zabarella and in different areas of the city (1999 ), and even the most recent, in the Church of San Lorenzo in San Vito al Tagliamento (2001) and in the Church of S. Maria dei Battuti in Cividale del Friuli (2003).
The participation of Romao Abate in important group exhibitions opens in 1967 (Il punto sull’arte giovane, Treviso, Palazzo dei Trecento) and continues growing.
